Universal Time and time zones were proposed in 1878 by Canadian inventor Sandford Fleming, and they were introduced in 1884. The Earth was divided into 24 time zones, each 15° wide.
Currently, Marotino's offices are located in Miami, sunny Florida, as well as in Limassol, Cyprus, and in Poland in Sosnowiec, Sopot, and Gdańsk. We also have an office in Prague, in the Czech Republic.
The daily work of the entire company consists mainly of internal meetings but also meetings with clients from around the world. We have already provided services for clients from Hawaii as well as Dubai. Working with clients from the European Union is very simple for us due to the small time difference, around 3 hours. Our developers mainly work from Poland, but we have team members from Cyprus and Spain in our team.
Marotino’s Approach to Time Zone Management
A challenge is working when the entire development team is in, for example, Poland or the Czech Republic, and the client is on the west coast of the USA.
For such projects, we base our management on coordinators working in the same time zone as the development team, while we report progress to the client on a weekly basis or twice a week. Sprints, work scopes, or milestones are planned. The team works during local business hours, and management reports work results to the client at the end of the day in their time zone and the beginning of the day in the zone we are working from.
If a single developer works from Poland for a client in Florida, it is very simple because, for example, we can set a daily meeting at 9 a.m. in Miami, and then it is 3 p.m. in Poland during winter time or 4 p.m. during summer time.
Our many years of experience in complex projects and delegating individual employees on an hourly basis is routine for us and does not pose a problem in delivering tasks on time and of excellent quality as per client expectations.
We warmly invite you to contact us at any time :)
